Hi! I'm Jessica! Writing an "about" page is just the hardest for an introvert for me. Do they really want to know about me? Will anyone click this page or even read it? One thing writing this page made me realize...is that I massively have an outdated profile picture. So if you are reading this and there is a picture, then go me! I managed to squeeze in time to take a self-portrait! If not, I promise you I'm just a run of the mill 40yr old that's part time farmer, mom, and photographer entrepreneur.
I suppose you want to know when I started photographing? Well, I got my first point-and-shoot camera at 10, first SLR at 16, so that must mean something? Oh, you meant professionally? Once I graduated school, I would sometimes do sessions for friends and family for 'trade.' Does that count? OK, OK, Officially, I have been a professional photographer since 2016. Before that, I was a veterinarian technician, waitress, police officer, facilities designer, and a dapple of other jobs I didn't stay too long at. I have an associates in computer programing and was a semester away from completing my bachelor's in criminal justice. Boring stuff, am I right?
Let's get back on track. I've had a love for photography for as long as I can remember. Since starting my professional photography journey, I have had the pleasure of capturing many different types of photography. I've met many interesting souls who stood before my camera, as well as learned about vastly different industries. I've kayaked with a tour group to bring to life what the tour offers. I've trudged through the marsh to capture a Yamadori excursion to show the experience of collecting local tree specimens to create beautiful bonsai. I've photographed an airshow to help bring awareness to this great show's momentous return. All in order to capture their story through imagery. I pride myself in constantly pushing my skills and continuing my education so I can better serve my clients.
Like with so many others, 2020 hit my business hard, as well as my family. I thought it was time to call it quits and close this chapter of my life. However, though the support of my family, friends, and client referrals, well, they just wouldn't let me walk away. I'm here to say I'm thankful for their support! And that's how I have found myself today, in February 2023, making a new website and having to write a new "about" page. I think it's not too shabby.
